ST. FAITH'S CHURCH CHOIR

  Do you enjoy singing?

St. Faith's Church choir is a mixed Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Basses (SATB) choir consisting of ten trebles and ten adults.  They lead the 9.30am Sunday services and sing on other feast days, as well as at Choral Evensongs, weddings and concerts.  The weekly 6.30pm Sunday Evensongs are led by the adults.

Choir practice is on Friday nights.  The trebles meet at 6.15pm when training is given in both the theoretical and singing elements of the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) badge scheme.  The adults join the trebles for a joint practice from 7pm to 7.45pm.  They then have their own practice until 8.30pm when training is given for those wishing to participate in the RSCM badge scheme.

The choir meets during school terms only and has approximately eleven Sundays off each year.  New recruits - especially Trebles, Altos, Tensors and Basses - are always welcome.  Boys and girls can join as trebles from the age of seven.  Anyone interested in joining us should please contact the Rector on 023 9248 3485 before coming along on a Friday night practice for a trial "sing".

Being in a choir is an excellent way to learn to read music and develop your voice.  It is a recognised fact that children in church choirs often have higher reading ages than other children of their age due to the high level of concentration and reading skills needed to sing church music.

In return of commitment to the choir we offer:

   - Vocal tuition and intensive musical training

   - Participation in events organised by the Royal School of Church Music

   - Opportunities to attend residential and non-residential choral courses

   - an annual choir social event

  - choristers receive a small monthly allowance (depending on seniority) in return of regular attendance and punctuality.

In addition to Sunday services, choir members regularly take part in weddings, memorial services and concerts.

Why not come and join us?  We rehearse on Friday evenings in the Church 6.15pm-7.45pm for children and 7pm-8.30pm for adults.
